Founded in 1980 by Janet Baldwin, and organised by Graeme Adams for 10 years, this annual event has now been run by Caron de Burgh, Peter Kerr and Fiona Beck for the last 5 years. It has been traditionally held on a weekend in or around Gloucestershire, although was expanded to a full week and held in France for a special 20th Anniversary event.
The purpose is to educate by providing tuition, masterclasses, reed making and playing in a convivial atmosphere. The day is held for double reed players of every standard.
To achieve the objectives, a top soloist is present for both oboe and bassoon. There is also first class support from a range of local double-reed teachers. Trade stands are in attendance for the adjustment and repair of instruments, or for the purchase of a full range of double reed items. All meals and snacks are included in the price and are of a high standard.
